E!, Sprint Partner to Stream Emmys

E! said it has partnered with Sprint to stream its red carpet coverage prior to the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sept. 16. The two-hour preview show, Live from the Red Carpet: The 2007 Primetime Emmy Awards, will also be simulcast on The Vine @ E! Online, the network’s broadband video channel. The deal with Sprint marks the first time that E! will deliver a live broadcast to various mobile devices. Besides reproducing the live network show, which airs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. from just outside the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Sprint TV users will also be able to access exclusive footage from a secondary camera placed on the red carpet outside the show, dubbed the Glam Cam. Besides Sprint, the live show will be available to subscribers of Pivot, the wireless service that is the product of a joint venture between Sprint, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and Advance Newhouse.
