The NFLPA today debuted a new Web page – linked to its home page and titled "The NFLPA Truth Squad: Facts vs. Fiction" – as part of a new effort to “defend itself” against the claims of former players. NFLPA Exec Dir Gene Upshaw said that some retired NFLers’ accounts of being "rejected for disability are rife with inaccuracies.” Upshaw and his advisors indicated that "some former players exaggerated claims, omitted facts and engaged in 'character assassination'" in statements to both Congress and the media.
