Weather Channel Goes 2.0 With Acquisition of Weather Bonk

The Weather Channel, through its Weather Channel Interactive unit, is acquiring Weather Bonk, which looks like a Web 2.0 version of Weather.com. The site pulls weather data from a variety of sources, mashing it up with Google Maps. It also offers local weather-related forums (which aren’t very busy) and live webcams at various locations. With the purchase, The Weather Channel will also get Golf Bonk and Ski Bonk, similarly structured sites for fans of those activities. The sites, which don’t look particularly active, could probably stand to benefit from the support of a larger firm.
