ESPN.com has announced a pair of content sharing and cross promotional deals with two independent, college sports-related sites. The sports site has inked partnerships with InsideTheU.com, which caters to fans and alumni of the University of Miami, along with TheBigSpur.com, which serves the University of South Carolina’s fan base. Each site will begin featuring ESPN.com-produced analysis and player ratings, and these site’s premium subscribers will gain access to ESPN.com Insider subscription service. In addition, as part of the partnerships both properties will provide some of their original content to ESPN.com’s relevant team pages, and each will drive traffic to and from ESPN.com. These two new arrangements are an extension of an ongoing strategy for ESPN.com to ingratiate itself into hyper-local, hyper-passionate fan communities on the Internet. Earlier this year, the site launched similar cross promotional relationships with Bucknuts.com, which is centered around The Ohio State University, GatorCountry.com, which serves the University of Florida fan community, and WeAreSC.com, which does the same for the University of Southern California.
