What Do Countries Google the Most?

The most popular Google search terms by country are provided, and the results are telling. Google Inc. provided the statistics via its “Google Trends” site, available to the public, with a period of 2004 to the present. Among the findings: Egypt, India, and Turkey are the world’s largest users of the keyword “sex” in search terms. As for other search terms:

  • “Hitler” was most searched by Germany, Mexico, and Austria; “Nazi” was the keyword of choice for Chile, Australia, and the UK.
  • Chile also searched the word “gay” more than any others, with Mexico and Colombia following.
  • “Jihad” was most searched in Morocco, with Indonesia 2nd and Pakistan 3rd; Pakistan led in the search of the word “terrorism,” however, with the Philippines and Australia 2nd and 3rd.
  • The Irish were the largest searchers of the word “hangover,” with their neighbors in the UK 2nd and the US 3rd.

  • "Botox" - Australia, United States, United Kingdom
  • "Viagra" - Italy, United Kingdom, Germany
  • "David Beckham" - Venezuela, United Kingdom, Mexico
  • "Kate Moss" - Ireland, United Kingdom, Sweden
  • "Dolly Buster" - Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia
  • "Car bomb" - Australia, United States, Canada
  • "Marijuana" - Canada, United States, Australia
  • "IAEA" - Austria, Pakistan, Iran
