New York Times Site Unveils Revamped Tech Section

The New York Times Web site has unveiled a revamped technology section, which aggregates content from multiple news sources, ranging from mainstream news sites to independent blogs. NYTimes.com’s new technology section embraces an open source philosophy mores than in the past, said officials, as the hope is that Times readers will be able to view news from the majority of their key sources all in one place. The site now pulls headlines and content from publications ranging from Time.com and Reuters to paidcontent.org. To power the new multifeed environment, company has tapped a Times subsidiary, the technology firm Blogrunner. Besides more sources, The Times is looking to user Blogrunner’s platform to allow for more reader commentary and conversation, an increasingly priority for NYTimes.com as it looks to increase users' average time spent on the site.
