MySpace Nabs Positioning on Sprint Portal

The soon-to-launch free mobile version of MySpace has landed premium positioning on Sprint's content portal. Starting early next year, Sprint mobile data subscribers will be able to link directly to MySpace from the wireless provider’s home page with a single click. That’s a key piece of real estate, as many mobile users still rely on their individual carrier’s portals to navigate the Web rather than typing traditional URLs into a mobile browser. As part of an extensive partnership between Fox Interactive Media and Sprint, besides MySpace, several other Fox Interactive Media interests will receive prominent treatment on Sprint’s portal, including IGN, FoxSports.com and Photobucket, among others. “By providing a direct link to these sites, we’re making it even easier for customers to use their phones to access their MySpace accounts and other online services that are important to them, whenever and wherever they want,” said John Burris, Sprint’s vp of wireless data content.
