Acquisition Rumors: Microsoft-Yahoo; Microsoft-Logitech; News Corp.-Monster; Google-Yell; Microsoft-Limelight

The New York Post reignited a rumor that it’s flogged a number of times, that Microsoft is considering a bid for Yahoo. The paper cites sources close to Microsoft saying that a debate is going on internally whether to go public with a bid. Yahoo was up nearly 7 percent today.

Shares of Swiss peripheral maker Logitech advanced on rumors that Microsoft might make an $8 billion bid. The deal would be the largest acquisition in the company’s history, topping aQuantive.

A rumor that News Corp. had sent a $4.8 billion offer letter to the board of Monster Worldwide.

Tongues in UK are wagging again with last year’s rumour Google might bid for business listings UK publisher Yell. It never happened in ‘07, but that didn’t stop new unattributed talk of a £5-per-share offer bumping the Berkshire-based group’s market price up at last night’s close.

Microsoft is interested in buying content-delivery-network Limelight Networks. A CDN industry insider (not at Limelight) tells us he has heard this twice in recent days from independent sources.
