Turner and NASCAR.com Re-Up Web Management Deal

TBS today will announce that it has extended its contract with NASCAR to operate the sport's official Web site, NASCAR.com, through 2014. The deal gives Turner oversight of news content, broadband coverage, wireless platforms, video downloads and ad sales, as well as e-commerce. The existing contract runs through the end of '08. Turner, which has operated NASCAR.com since '01, also runs PGA.com, PGATour.com and will take over NBA.com next season. In '07, NASCAR.com enjoyed double-digit growth in page views -- 1.4 billion for the year -- and streamed more than 25 million videos, according to NASCAR. Turner Senior VP/New Media Lenny Daniels said the site will continue to look for more video streaming opportunities and plans to work more closely with NASCAR Images to create that content. "We certainly believe the broadband area of NASCAR.com will continue to grow beyond what it is," said Daniels, who also emphasized the development of wireless content and is talking with series sponsor Sprint on ways to create more offerings.
