ESPN Agrees to Online Video Syndication Deal With AOL

ESPN is the latest major media company to get into the Web video syndication game. The sports programmer has inked its first such deal with AOL to deliver short video segments from ESPN.com to AOL Video and AOL Sports via a branded ESPN video player that will go live on the portal sometime this month. Among the content that will become available will be SportsCenter Right Now – an ultracondensed version of the long running highlight show - as well as snippets of video from the ESPN series Mike and Mike in the Morning, Pardon the Interruption and Around the Horn. Also part of the deal: AOL plans to integrate ESPN's collection of video within Truveo, the company's video-specific search engine, and will also look to drive traffic to ESPN.com by placing links to relevant stories within the branded player.
