The Cavaliers have launched a stand-alone social networking site at CavFanatic.com, joining existing social networking efforts within MySpace. Following in the footsteps of other NBA club social networking sites such as the Suns' PlanetOrange.net and the Trail Blazers' Iamatrailblazersfan.com, CavFanatic adds video and photo sharing, groups and other functions to what had been an active set of fan forums at the club’s home page, Cavs.com. A point system for participation within CavFanatic also will be launched soon, with the points redeemable for merchandise and tickets. Cavaliers Dir of Website Operations Jeff Lillibridge said, “We do have the MySpace page and will keep it, as it is important. But this will give us complete control, both in terms of content management and functionality, and with regard to ad sales.”
