PlayStation Launches Original Video Game Series

Sony PlayStation will inch closer to its long-awaited video service in the U.S. with the launch this week of an original monthly series devoted to gaming coverage. Entitled Qore, the high-definition program will focus entirely on the latest releases coming to PlayStation, including game demos and interviews with video game luminaries. The series, which launches June 5, is being produced by Future U.S., the American arm of the British publisher of the same name that also produces PlayStation: The Official Magazine. Qore is the first indication that PlayStation is moving beyond videogame and film trailers into original video on the console, as rival Xbox Live Marketplace has already done. Sony, however, has yet to make good on its intent to turn the console into an outlet for programming from established content partners, an area where Xbox has moved much more aggressively. Episodes of Qore will go for $2.99 on the console's online network or $24.99 for a 13-episode package.
