Stephen King and CBS to Create Web/Mobile Series

Famed author Stephen King announced plans to launch a 25-episode Web/mobile series based on an upcoming short story, N, in a partnership with CBS. The series, which debuts on July 28, features a psychiatrist who becomes entangled with one of his own patients obsessions. Designed to emulate the style of a graphic novel, the show--unveiled at Comic-Con International in San Diego--is being created in conjunction with Marvel Entertainment along with Scribner and Simon & Schuster Digital. N’s creative team includes the well know comic-book artist Alex Maleev, who’s done work for NBC’s Heroes, as well as Marc Guggenheim, co-creator of ABC’s Eli Stone. Previews of the series are currently available at NisHere.com and Simonsays.com. CBS said it plans to distribute N across the CBS Audience Network, which includes AOL, Yahoo, MSN, Bebo and Veoh, as well as on all major mobile carriers. Episodes will be streamable for free, though fans will have option to purchase the series at several digital retailers. New episodes of the show are scheduled to be posted five days a week through Aug. 29. And by this November, when the N will appear in print as part of King’s collection of short stories Just After Sunset hits bookstores, fans will be able to purchase a package which includes a DVD of the Web series.
