iTunes Show Coming to Syndicated Radio

In marriage of traditional and new media, Premiere Radio Networks announced Wednesday the launch of "The iTunes Download," a weekly syndicated radio program. Originating from Los Angeles, the program will debut this weekend on a number of Top 40 radio stations. The deal also underscores the growing popularity of iTunes as a source for new and popular music. "The iTunes charts have become the first indicator, each week, of what millions of music fans are buying," said Alex Luke, iTunes' director of music programming, who will serve as host of the three-hour count down show. "Radio is where more music buyers first hear what they want to buy and iTunes is the place they go to do it, now we're connecting the two."In addition to playing down the 30 most downloaded songs, Luke will interview music artists, feature celebrity play lists iMixes, play lists listeners created in the iTunes Store. The show also has a companion Web site, www.theiTunesdownload.com, for each week's chart and additional information.
