KickApps, a New York-based creator of social-networking applications, has signed development deals with the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Rangers and Knicks, extending its emerging reach into the sports industry. The three-year-old privately held outfit is helping to create official social-networking hubs for the 49ers at 49ersfaithful.net, the Rangers at iamaranger.com, and the Knicks at knicksnet.com. Each site began beta testing during the spring and summer, and each is due to make a more public launch this fall with the arrival of the clubs’ regular seasons. Featured content supported under KickApps’ platform includes the expected array of videos, photos, blogs, message boards and listings for meeting opportunities.
