CBS Launches iPhone App For Citizen Journalism

Consumers equipped with Apple’s popular iPhone mobile device now have the ability to be “personal broadcasters” by uploading photos and video to CBS Mobile’s EyeMobile Web site, CBS announced Monday, by downloading a new, free software application. The EyeMobile iPhone application was created by Seattle-based social-networking specialists Treemo Labs and offers the full functionality of CBSEyeMobile.com, which launched earlier this year, CBS said. The Treemo software allows iPhone owners to use the device’s integral camera to capture and upload photos and video to the CBS EyeMobile site, where they can view and rate reports and interact with other EyeMobile “on-the-go journalists.” After submitting content, EyeMobile application users can update their reports, track views and engage in discussions with other EyeMobile members.
