Fictional Webisode Based on Topps Trading Cards To Be Streamed on FoxSports.com

Michael Eisner’s digital studio Vuguru, the company behind the modestly successful, teen-aimed Web soap Prom Queen, has found a home for its latest offering. The 17-episode series Back On Topps, which features former hosts of ESPN’s Cheap Seats Randy and Jason Sklar, will debut on FoxSports.com. The sports site will enjoy an exclusive, 12-hour distribution window for new episodes of Topps each Tuesday and Thursday starting Sept. 30. Other syndication partners include YouTube, Veoh, Hulu, Blip, Bebo, Metacafe, Dailymotion, MobiTV, iTunes and backontopps.com. The series features the Sklar brothers as Leland and Leif Topps, bumbling heirs to the Topps Co.’s family fortune who are struggling to deal with the company’s new management just as they are being filmed by a documentary crew (Eisner purchased the baseball card giant back in 2007). In addition, real sports stars like former NBA bad boy Dennis Rodman will make appearances on the show, which Vuguru creative director Steve Cohen described as “The Office meets the SportsCenter commercials.”
