The Fantasy Sports Trade Association (FSTA) today plans to release the results of a study indicating 19.4 million people in the U.S. and Canada actively play some type of fantasy sports, the highest such number ever published and directly connected to research, and a sizeable jump from previous estimates generally hovering around 14-16 million. Two years ago, the FSTA said 12.6 million U.S. adults were active participants. The study also found that 34 million people in the U.S. and Canada were either former or current fantasy players, indicating a large population of lapsed participants that will likely be a target of intensified marketing.
