NFL Nearing Deal With Sling Media To Let Users Share Game Clips

The NFL is “nearing a deal with Sling Media Inc. to become the latest partner for the Clip+Sling video-sharing service,” according to sources cited by Ourand & Fisher of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. The NFL agreement would follow a deal Sling announced in June with the NHL, and would allow for game highlights to be shared using the Slingbox device. A signed agreement is expected before the start of the NFL regular season next week. The Clip+Sling service allows users to “construct their own short-form video clips and send them to anyone, including those who do not own a Slingbox.” The NFL’s TV partners “do not foresee any copyright issues, since game highlights are available to rival networks during the game.” The NFL already has “aligned with Sling through the SuperFan add-on to DirecTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket offering”
