Ridiculous Item of the Day: Network Debuts Unconventional New York Sports Shows Featuring Stickball, Roller Derby, Bike Messenger Races

SportsNet N.Y. debuted its first original entertainment series, called “Street Games,” which is being promoted as “‘Wide World of Sports’ meets the Big Apple.’” Pontiac is the presenting sponsor for the series, which features ten half-hour episodes that survey non-mainstream sports in the N.Y. area, such as stickball, roller derby and a bike messenger race. Former X-Games athlete Kenan Harkin, who has hosted NBC’s AST Dew Tour coverage, will host the show, whose regular time slot going forward will be Thursdays at 10:00pm.
