WCSN Strikes Deal with FoxSports.com

World Championship Sports Network is expected to announce this week a multiyear distribution deal with FoxSports.com that will see WCSN provide Olympic sports videos to the MSN affiliate. WCSN will launch a branded channel on FoxSports.com under the “More Sports” category, and visitors to FoxSports.com will be able to access exclusive sports and world-record video on the site’s “Olympic Sports” section, courtesy of WCSN. Both parties declined to address the financial terms of the deal, but partnerships such as this typically are based on revenue-sharing agreements. As attention turns toward the Olympic world ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, mainstream sports Web sites are increasingly looking for a way to supplement their Olympic offerings. WCSN will help FoxSports.com meet that demand by sharing exclusive video from events like the Gymnastics World Championships. The FoxSports.com deal comes on the heels of another content-sharing agreement that WCSN struck earlier this summer with Yahoo!. It also has agreements with AOL, Break.com and others. WCSN has had three times as many visitors since partnering with Yahoo!, according to alexa.com, which measures Web traffic.
