Britney Spears & MTV Ask Fans to Create New Music Video

MTV will launch the “Britney Spears Wants a Piece of You” contest on Monday, asking fans to create a new video for her single “Piece of Me” from the album Blackout. Using MTV’s Video Remixer, the network will release footage of Spears “including interviews, red-carpet appearances and performances.” Remixed clips can go up to 3 minutes and 34 seconds in length, and the winner receives a Haier Ibiza Rhapsody player, a one year subscription to Rhapsody, and collection of Spears’s CDs and DVDs. The winning vid will also be played on TRL on December 20. The MTV Video Remixer uses Adobe Premiere Express, and artists Kelly Clarkson, Nelly Furtado, Common, and Paramore have all participated in the past.
The Video Remixer has yet to capture wide appeal, but Spears might be the name to put it on the map.
