Web Sites With NFL Video Clips Must Link To League, Team Pages

In addition to limiting news organizations to no more than 45 seconds of online audio or video of team personnel from its stadiums per day, the NFL is requiring that news Web sites using such audio or video "provide links to NFL.com and that team's Web page". Also, news sites are “barred from running advertisements alongside the NFL content.” The policy also requires news sites to remove NFL audio and video from their websites after 24 hours of usage. Houston Chronicle football writer John McClain has “circumvented the rule by asking [Texans] players, coaches, and executives to meet him away from team property for interviews,” as the rule "only applies to audio or video recorded at team facilities." However, the Texans are “more likely than well-established teams to accommodate such requests.” McClain: “Do you think [Patriots coach Bill] Belichick will let you come by his house and set up an interview? I don’t think so”.
