MLBAM to Become One of First Outlets to Use Microsoft Silverlight

MLBAM, which had been using Microsoft’s Windows Media Player for its various video products, has become one of the first outlets to roll out the software giant’s new Silverlight 1.0. Announced earlier this year at the NAB convention, Silverlight is a next-generation interactive media player Web application that within MLB.com will feature picture-in-picture video capability that can combine live and pre-recorded video, and a large suite of widgets that overlay user-controlled functions such as dynamic stats, fantasy information and chat windows in a translucent manner over the live video. Silverlight is being positioned as a competitor to the widely-used Adobe Flash.
